Dungeon Comics & Cards

When my local comic shop moved into a larger space, the team finally had room to pack and ship online orders. I worked with the owners to turn that opening into a Shopify store.

The Process

One inventory, two ways to shop.

Start at the counter

I worked with the owners to map how an online order would fit into the shop’s day. A local customer might reserve a book for pickup while someone outside Oakville needed it shipped. Both had to be able to trust the stock they saw online.

Organize the shelves for collectors

A Pokémon player looking for a single card shops differently from someone buying a sealed box. I used game and product type as entry points, with comics, supplies, and the events calendar within reach from the homepage.

Get the shop ready to fulfill orders

I configured payments and shipping, connected inventory management, and tested the storefront with the team. Training the staff was part of the launch so they could handle orders alongside their regular in-store work.

Outcomes

From local shop to online retailer.

The store sold over $10,000 in product in less than a day after launch. Online ordering gave Oakville regulars a pickup option and opened the shop to buyers across Canada and abroad.

$3.4MIn online sales through the Shopify storefront.
70KOrders placed through the shop’s online channel.
4.5%Store conversion rate, from browsing the online catalog to placing an order.
